Sep. 27--Seven years ago, before terrorists attacked New York and Washington and before the United States sent its military to Iraq, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Larry Plesser became the first warrant officer to advise the commanding general of the Army's Special Forces.
Plesser had been in the Army since 1971, first as an infantryman, then as a Special Forces weapons sergeant.
His career had taken him to Panama, South Korea and Kansas, and, on Jan. 8, 2001, it took him to the most senior position ever held by a Special Forces warrant officer.
