GM-UAW talks continue
DETROIT - Talks between strike target General Motors and the UAW continued into the weekend.
The two sides still differ over how much the carmaker should pay into a union-managed fund that would take over $50 billion in GM retiree health care liabilities. Other issues also remain unsettled.
As of Friday, UAW local leaders said they had not gone on heightened alert for a strike. Eldon Renaud, Local 2164 president in Bowling Green, Ky., said preparations for a possible strike haven't changed since the four-year labor pact expired Sept. 14.
