Dear Vincenza:
Fifth's disease is caused by a parvovirus. This virus can cause a sore throat, itching, mild fever, headaches, and a rash. It is contagious (can be spread from one person to another). You probably got it from a person who had the disease but had not yet gotten the rash - that's when the disease can be spread.
Fifth's disease causes a rash that appears in stages. The first stage shows a bright red rash on the face, especially on the cheeks. The person often looks like his cheeks ...
