Downtown luxury hotel still sought after: Los Altos city manager assigned to form plan.

Sep. 27--Amid several calls for a luxury hotel, the Los Altos City Council tasked its new city manager this week with figuring out the best use for city-owned land in downtown. The city's adjacent properties at First and Main streets were previously slated to become an 85-room boutique hotel costing about $450 a night. That plan, first hatched in 2001, fizzled in August after a development agreement expired, leaving the city to decide the fate of its real estate holdings.
