TOKYO, Sept 28 Asia Pulse - Fitness club operator Tipness Ltd., ranked fourth in the industry in terms of sales, and rival OG Sports, ranked sixth, have agreed to form a business alliance.

The firms plan to collaborate in the development of programs to address metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions such as high blood pressure and excess body fat that increase the risk of heart disease and other problems.

The tie-up is aimed at getting ahead of rivals before new rules take effect in April 2008 that require corporate health insurance programs to address the risks of lifestyle-related diseases among employees.
