Sep. 28--With radiant floor heating and translucent windows three inches thick, East Hampton's rebuilt high school promises to emerge within three or four years as a model of energy efficiency.
And a statewide model at that. Yesterday, the $58-million expansion and renovation project was saluted at an Albany news conference as the very first to meet new state guidelines for "green" schools.
"East Hampton has taken the risk -- which has proved a very smart thing to do -- to construct a green building," said State Education Commissioner Richard Mills.
