Desdemona is square in the middle of a man's world in William Shakespeare's "Othello."
On the one hand, in this tragedy that opens today after previews at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, there's the overpowering jealousy and bombasts of her husband Othello.
And, although not as loud as Othello, there's the insidious plotting of the arch villain Iago (R. Ward Duffy) with which she has to contend.
Fiercely resentful of missing a military promotion, Iago involves Desdemona in his vengeance against Othello. In his way, Iago is just as daunting on stage for Desdemona as Othello.
