Sep. 29--The Walton County Sheriff's Offi ce, along with the South Walton Fire District and AirHeart, held a public safety education event Sept. 20 at the Santa Rosa Beach substation.
The event was held to teach approximately 20 homeschooled children and their parents about the virtues of public safety and various equipment that is utilized in search and rescue.
Members of the Walton County Sheriff's Office's Beach Patrol, Aviation and Traffic units displayed their equipment and answered questions, such as: how many people can the helicopter carry? And, how do you get the gurney in and out of the helicopter?
