Sep. 30--ALTAMONTE SPRINGS
The next time Ashley Cline and Katie Eichelberger are on the same softball field, they will be adversaries.
That doesn't mean they won't be friends.
Even the intense rivalry between their high schools -- Lake Brantley for Ashley and Lyman for Katie -- can't drive a wedge into the bonds they formed as part of an Altamonte Springs team that won the Babe Ruth Softball 16 & under World Series last month.
The 14 girls and their coaches were celebrated Saturday at the Altamonte Mall, showered with everything from gift cards to a flag that flew over the United States Capitol.
