The 2003 London hit "Jerry Springer--The Opera" will finally play Gotham in a two-night concert presentation at Carnegie Hall set for January.
The cheeky tuner based on the sensationalist American talkshowwon critical raves and picked up a slew of London legit kudos. Plans for a Broadway berth, however, fell apart, reportedly due to a failure to attract funding.
New York incarnation of"Springer" is produced by David J. Foster and Jared Geller--the duo behind "KIN & Herb: Alive on Broadway" and Carnegie Hall evenings for Kiki & Herb and Rufus Wainwright--as well as Avalon Promotions.
