For all the debate surrounding the possibility of a so-called paperless office, progressive South Florida firms are taking the digital plunge and reporting real paybacks.

For some, the paperless office is no longer pulp fiction. It is a practical reality. You can scan documents into your computer instead of photocopying them. You can copy documents to a CD, e-mail them or post them to an Intranet instead of printing them. You can save documents on a server instead of filing them in metal cabinets. And you can search for them from your desktop instead of wading through drawers of manila folders.
