Oct. 1--CANTON -- St. Lawrence County legislators may reconsider today support of a proposed powerful economic development agency.
Legislator Thomas A. Nichols, R-Oswegatchie, asked that lawmakers revote supporting the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency proposed to oversee $16 million in New York Power Authority funds and 20 megawatts of power.
"The board did not have an opportunity to review this document," he said. "I think it's important enough that it takes more than one minute. There are a number of flaws."
Lawmakers supported the agency 14-0 Sept. 10. The agency's 40-page bylaws were distributed minutes before the vote.
