Menlo coach works to stop home violence: Kaanapu to receive state honor.

Oct. 1--The sport of football has a reputation for violence, considering it awards the meanest and toughest athletes. But Menlo College coach Mark Kaanapu works hard to make sure that reputation doesn't leave the gridiron.

Instead, he has built a reputation for the time he volunteers to programs that help prevent domestic abuse, and he has asked his team members to sign a pledge to stop violence against women at an upcoming White Ribbon Campaign function on campus.
