All in all, the EU's 27 member states support the draft decision concerning the Community's involvement in an R&D programme aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly through recourse to new information and communication technologies ( Ambient Assisted Living' or AAL). They must now tackle the technical issues', in particular that of the mechanism of national financing.
