Sep. 29--Markets and investors are struggling to gauge the long-term consequences of the global credit crunch and its convulsive impact on the UK banking sector. But even before consequences are known with any certainty, a policy consensus already appears to have formed on several fronts.
One is the need for stricter regulation of wholesale money markets. Another is more effective supervision of the banking sector.
