Chizik proud of Cyclones' fight.

Oct. 1--LINCOLN, Neb. -- Gene Chizik was a football coach for more than 3 hours Saturday afternoon.

After Nebraska beat his Iowa State Cyclones, 35-17, at Memorial Stadium, Chizik played the role of editor.

He wanted the post-game story told his way.

"I tell you what -- I want to make sure you write this down," he said to the media assembled in Nebraska's University Club. "(The players) didn't quit and they won't. They've got too much about them to quit.

"We'll come back next week, go to work, get ready for a Big 12 game and see if we can't play better."

Actually, no one accused Iowa State of giving up during or after the 15th ...
