WORCESTER - Lynne Simonds is determined to change the result of the District 4 City Council election this year.
In the last two city elections, Ms. Simonds has lost to City Councilor Barbara G. Haller. The 59-year-old head of Southbridge Community Connections lost to the incumbent city councilor, who had 74 percent of the vote in 2003 when Ms. Simonds ran a write-in campaign, and 57 percent of the vote two years ago.
But Ms. Simonds said she got an earlier start on campaigning this year and is running a smarter campaign, and has the endorsements of the AFL-CIO and an organization representing city government retirees.
