Oct. 2--For now, Mayor Tom McMahon's proposed 2008 budget contains no tax increases but does call for hiring six more employees for the city's new push on codes and zoning enforcement.
The mayor, who's seeking reelection in November, won't formally present the proposed budget until Oct. 30, but City Council got a look at parts of it Monday night.
However, city Managing Director R. Leon Churchill Jr. cautioned that there are no guarantees the budget won't propose tax hikes by the time it's introduced.
