Oct. 2--VICTORVILLE -- Melanie Hareski woke up early Saturday morning to a flash of light and a bang.
"It scared the daylights out of us," said the Victorville resident, who lives near Village Drive. "It woke us out of a dead sleep."
"It" was a rapid, powerful surge of electricity that happened about 1:35 a.m. after a power outage caused by a motorist driving on National Trails Highway at Interstate 15 hit a guywire holding up an electricity pole, said Nancy Jackson, spokeswoman for Southern California Edison.
About 2,400 homes lost power.
