Fire brings down lodge, but spirits remain intact: Historic resort will continue to thrive, official says.

Oct. 2--KENNEDY MEADOWS -- The historic Kennedy Meadows Resort lodge, seven cabins and several other buildings were destroyed in a fire that began about 1 a.m. Monday.
Tuolumne County fire spokesman Craig Hart said fire escaping from a flue connected to a wood stove set the lodge roof ablaze.
Resort owner Matt Bloom and others succeeded in limiting the fire's spread, saving a number of cabins, as well as the saloon and the corral and pack station where hundreds saddle up each summer for trips into the nearby Emigrant Wilderness.
