INTRODUCTION
The physical and chemical properties of thermoset coatings crosslinked with melamine formaldehyde resins have been extensively investigated.(1-4) In most of the published work, bulk coatings were studied. Less attention has been paid to the question of whether certain materials' parameters change with depth. This question, however, becomes important in coatings in which gradients of specific properties perpendicular to the surface could be of practical significance.
