MSIG building brand to lift profile and sales.

Oct. 2--HUAI HANG, Uthai Thani -- The Japanese insurance firm Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) has embarked on a three-year brand-building programme that it hopes will move it into the top three among general insurers, from fourth place at present.

MSI Thailand last year reported total premiums of 2.26 billion baht, including 808 million baht from fire insurance, 594 million from motor coverage, 519 million baht from marine cargo, and 336 million baht from miscellaneous business.

Its affiliate MSIG Insurance, formerly Aviva, last year had premiums of 2.4 billion baht, 1.143 billion of which came from motor insurance, 829 million from ...
