Oct. 2--The Islamic Bank of Thailand plans to sharply expand its credit services for local Muslims undertaking the Hajj, according to acting president Dheerasak Suwannayos.
Saudi Arabia has approved a quota of 15,000 pilgrims from Thailand to travel to Mecca for the Hajj, the pilgrimage that Muslims must make at least once in their lifetime and which represents the fifth pillar of Islam.
Mr Dheerasak said around 20 percent of this year's pilgrims were expected to seek financial support from the Islamic Bank of around 360 million baht.
