Oct. 2--The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department has closed an investigation into an August accident that left three Bishop's Lodge horses dead and four people injured. But a former manager of the resort's stables says Bishop's Lodge has no business operating the horse stable in its current location.
Gruff Herrman said he managed the stable from 2001 to 2004 and has visited it four or five times a year since then. He said he warned the lodge's prior manager there was bound to be an accident with the horses because the stable is in a growing residential area near a busy road.
