Once upon a time, "Mexican cinema" meant Pedro Infante hamming it up in a giant sombrero and Jorge Negrete crooning in mariachi pants. It was lovingly known as the Golden Age of Mexican filmmaking, which lasted from 1935 until the late 1950s. Hundreds of films were produced, with comedic stars like Mario Moreno "Cantinflas" capturing accolades from the likes of Charlie Chaplin and even earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then, suddenly it seemed like someone yelled "Cut!" on the enitre Mexican movie industry and the golden years were gone.

The 60s and 70s saw a few horror films produced, but it seemed like the nation would never see such Golden Age ...
