Oct. 2--The city of Atlanta plans to spend up to $30 million on a stormwater pond system that's intended to be the centerpiece of a new intown park near the proposed Beltline.
The goal during the next five years is to create a 13- to 16-acre park on the south side of North Avenue near City Hall East.
Long term, the plan is to expand the park to 35 acres, which would be bigger than Centennial Olympic Park downtown. If that happens, walkable green space would wind all the way to Freedom Parkway.
