Food-grade soy group sends free beans to poor.

Oct. 2--CASSELTON, N.D. -- A group of eight food-grade soybean producers and processors loaded 20.4 metric tons of beans Sept. 27 bound for Guatemala to deliver nutrition to poor children who otherwise could not afford the food.

The Northern Food Grade Soybean Association, only formed last March, joined forces to donate a container that holds 750 bushels of processed soybeans. Each of eight companies made a charitable donation of 85 of the 30-kilogram bags of soybeans.

Robert Sinner of Casselton, N.D., one of the organizers of regional food group, says the idea for the effort was sparked after he read a story in a national soybean publication. ...
