Hershey executive's retirement gets mixed reactions.

Oct. 3--The Hershey Co. workers in Derry Twp. wouldn't give their names Tuesday, but they didn't hesitate to offer opinions about Richard H. Lenny, who will step down as company chairman, president and CEO by the end of the year.

"I think he tried to do the right thing, but he failed miserably," one worker said of Lenny, 55, who was the first leader of Hershey to come from outside the company. "Right now everyone's in limbo -- they don't know what to expect."

By the end of the day, the company reported that Lenny's replacement would be David J. West, currently chief operating officer. He will become CEO on Dec. 1 and was named president and ...
