Valero Open leads PGA in donations for charity.

Oct. 3--The Valero Texas Open, once last on the PGA Tour's charitable rankings, announced Tuesday evening that it had raised $8 million for philanthropic purposes -- the most ever raised for charidty by a PGA Tour event.

This year's total is about $1 million more than last year's total.

The Valero Texas Open is taking place this week at the Westin La Cantera Resort, the 13th consecutive year it has been held there.

In combination with the Benefit for Children Golf Classic, the Valero Texas Open raises millions of dollars each year to benefit hundreds of children's charities throughout the areas where Valero does business, Valero Energy ...
