Five years ago the New Hampshire Historical Society in Concord had the foresight to buy a large building known as the Stone Warehouse on Eagle Square, two blocks from its headquarters on Park Street. A $4.2 million capital campaign enabled the society to transform the warehouse into its new headquarters. The building opens to the public on May 26 with a comprehensive long-term exhibition about New Hampshire's history.
The three-story warehouse was erected in 1870 for the storage of hardware, carriages, bedsteads, and agricultural implements. A fourth story was added in the 1890's, and at various times between 1920 and 1990 the building housed a clothing manufactory, ...
