Oct. 4--The city has received final approval for its $27 million Knoxville Station Transit Center and will begin construction in November on the site of downtown cosmetic bag distributor American Accessories International.

The Federal Transit Administration issued its finding last week that the project would have no significant environmental impact to the city.

The approval, according to a statement released by the city this morning, was the last one needed before the deal to purchase the 1.57-acre tract at the east end of the Church Avenue Viaduct could be completed.
