USAA urges federal oversight of insurance industry.

Oct. 4--WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A USAA executive testified to a congressional committee Wednesday that regulation of the insurance industry needs reform to eliminate waste in the system and to better serve consumers.

William McCartney, senior vice president of government and industry relations for San Antonio-based USAA, told a subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee that a uniform federal regulator for the insurance industry is needed for insurance products to make it easier for customers who are moving between states.
