With the increased use of medical interventions and cesarean sections, fewer US women with low-risk pregnancies have access to a normal childbirth. By definition, hospitals are for sick people who need medical intervention. The one exception is the healthy woman with a low-risk pregnancy who goes to a hospital to give birth.
