Japanese researchers are studying dioxin transfer from mother to infant and its inhibition through the use of Chlorella pyrenoidosa supplements. Dioxins are fatsoluble compounds, some of which cause birth defects, cancers, and diverse health problems. These chemical compounds travel up the food chain, accumulating in fish, meat, dairy products, and eventually in fatty tissue in people. In humans, dioxins have been linked to nervous system abnormalities, thyroid disorders, immune system damage, endometriosis, and diabetes.
