Oct. 4--After 10 years of operating and helping nearly 10,000 women, the Salt Lake Area Chamber has shuttered the Women's Business Center and transferred its services.

The center, which operated with two employees and an annual budget of $300,000, closed its office at 231 E. 400 South over the weekend. The move left the center's former director, a board member and a supporter frustrated.

The chamber said it will continue to operate the center's programs, but will move the mentoring and counseling services to Salt Lake Community College.
