Light Beam Industries, LLC, of Eugene, Oregon (USA), reports that it has developed a novel light-generating plastic using its patented technology. The solid-state, light-emitting material, designated LEC (light-emitting converter), is described as a crosslinked polymer that uses fluorescent laser dyes and solid-state light sources in conjunction with optical waveguides to generate multicolored or white light.
