West is good leader, colleagues say.

Oct. 6--When David Black became president and CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber in the summer of 2001, he got to work with David J. West, who was serving on some chamber committees.

But that relationship didn't last long. West had to relinquish his chamber duties because of his increasing responsibilities at The Hershey Co.

"He was always traveling," Black recalled.

West's responsibilities increased again this week when he was named president and CEO of the candymaker to replace Richard H. Lenny, who is retiring at the end of the year.
