Background
Scientific classification is the way scientists group and name living organisms to understand their relationships to each other. To group, they use the characteristics the plants and animals share, as opposed to their differences.
All snails are part of the Animal Kingdom and of the phylum called Mollusca. There are some snails that live in marine habitats (marine snails) and those that live on land (land snails). Though different in many ways, they still share many characteristics.
