SEATTLE-To help its employees better understand and maintain their health, Intel Corp. opened onsite clinics last year as part of a broadening of its health assessment and wellness efforts.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based technology manufacturer also wanted to help the 60% of its employees whose health care costs are less than $5,000 annually to avoid becoming part of the less healthy 1% that account for more than $50,000 each in annual costs.
Intel was spending more than $50 million annually caring for the latter group, said Steven Lensing, Intel's benefits program manager for global benefits design.
