One reason baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn signed on as an analyst with Turner Sports' team is the way the network broadcasts basketball.
"You watch Charles [Barkley] and Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson, and you can't help but be a fan of that,'' Mr. Gwynn said. "And that's what was intriguing for me-to have an opportunity with guys who do that type of show.''
Toward the end of the NBA season, Mr. Gwynn appeared on TNT's "Inside the NBA'' with Mr. Barkley and Mr. Smith and asked about the Turner staff.
"They said, `You're going to love working with them,''' he recalled.
