N.H. man lobbies to save 'Jack's Bridge'.

Oct. 8--LOWELL -- A year ago, Steve Lindsey heard the Textile Memorial Bridge is due to be torn down.

He was at one of the many events at the annual Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! festival with a couple of his writer friends, and he thought he had to do something to save the bridge.

"Jack's Bridge," he has come to call it.

Within a couple of hours Lindsey, 47, had cobbled together a makeshift petition and gathered nearly 100 signatures. The composer, David Amram, a Kerouac fest constant, signed, as did visitors from Italy, a Canadian, and people from New England and beyond.
