LOWELL -- It was under sunny skies yesterday a little before 2 p.m., when an 8-year-old Pawtucketville boy answered his door and came face to face with a pair of gun-toting men.

In moments, the boy and his 62-year-old grandmother were tied up at gunpoint and watched by one man while the other ransacked their home at 556 Varnum Ave., police said.

Investigators did not disclose what was taken last night, but said the armed home invaders were in and out quickly before making their escape.

"It appears that robbery was the motive," said Lt. Randall Humphrey.
