Oct. 6--A strike at Cargill's corn milling operation in Cedar Rapids that began Monday over a contract dispute will last at least a week.

The first negotiating session since the strike started has been scheduled for Monday, according to Teamsters Local 238 business agent Dave Elliott. The talks were set up on Thursday.

Before that occurs, union members expect a picket line visit from Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. The staff of the former U.S. senator from South Carolina has confirmed plans to visit the picket line at 4 p.m. today.
