Oct. 8--Deseret Morning News Editor Joe Cannon now says it was a mistake attending a gathering of the secretive, conservative Council for National Policy late last month in Salt Lake City.
Cannon told the industry publication Editor & Publisher that after meeting with staffers at his newspaper, he now regrets his decision and wouldn't do it again.
"The benefit of attending, in my mind, didn't justify the cost to the people at the paper," Cannon told E&P for a story published on its Web site Sunday night.
