WINCHENDON - The year was 1862. The location was the Shenandoah Valley. The battle was for Murdock Farm. And the winner was ... well, there was no winner according to Robert Zbikowski, a local Civil War re-enactor.
"It was a standoff. There was no clear advantage. We'll try again tomorrow," he said after Saturday's battle off Elmwood Road.
While there may not have been a winner, another battle was scheduled yesterday afternoon and, hopefully, someone won that one, Mr. Zbikowski said.
"This is historical though, there were a lot of battles that had no winners," he said.
