The long delayed New Acropolis Museum in Athens, some 30 years in the making, is set to open next year in its Bernard Tschumi-designed building. Construction has been completed on the $175-million, 226,000-square-foot structure in the Makryianni neighborhood in the shadow of the Acropolis, with installation of antiquities to begin soon. Limited public viewings will begin early next year and an official public opening is scheduled for late 2008. The museum will house surviving antiquities from the Acropolis, including those that have been in other Greek museums until now.
