Oct. 9--CHAPEL HILL -- Just last week, Otto found three stashes of cocaine inside a house, but on Monday, Otto was celebrating his retirement by chasing his tail.
With neurological problems that have given Otto back and hindquarter problems, it was time for the 10-year-old German shepherd and member of the Chapel Hill Police Department's K-9 unit to take it easy. Otto, who has lived with and been handled by Officer Rick Ennis of the department, will continue to live with Ennis and his family, but when the officer gets in his car to go to work, Otto will stay at home.
