Coker Hills district wins OK.

Oct. 9--CHAPEL HILL -- The Chapel Hill Town Council unanimously approved the creation of a Neighborhood Conservation District for the Coker Hills Neighborhood Monday night, capping a debate that has stretched for more than a year.

The NCD designation adds an extra layer of land-use rules that augment existing town zoning and private covenants that apply within the neighborhood. Supporters have said that the new rules will guard against people subdividing larger lots and constructing additions that are not in harmony with the surrounding area.
