Utah hopes to streamline sealing abandoned mines.

Oct. 9--A series of meetings will be held this month on a Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining proposal to streamline the process for assuring compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act while sealing abandoned mines.

Division officials will be available to answer questions and take informal comments on Monday at the state Department of Natural Resources, 1594 W. North Temple, in Salt Lake City; Oct. 17 at the Iron County Visitor Center, 581 N. Main in Cedar City; and Oct. 30 at the Moab Information Center, Center and Main streets, in Moab. All three run from 4-7 p.m.
