Oct. 9--SHELTON -- Residents in the 113th Assembly District head to the polls today to elect a replacement for longtime state Rep. Richard Belden.
A Republican who represented the 113th for more than 30 years, Belden died suddenly Aug. 20.
Vying to fill the remaining 13 months of Belden's term are Democrat James Orazietti and Republican Jason Perillo.
Perillo, asked by Belden's widow to run, is a member of the Board of Aldermen, while Orazietti serves on the city's Board of Education.
Orazietti, 51, said if elected, his focus would be on education funding, economic development and health care.
